What is Barre?

Barre originally derived from ballet. The classical dance movements and positions are combined with those drawn from yoga and pilates to create a low impact yet high intensity workout.Be prepared to drop, pulse, and hold your way through a fantastic session with some banging tunes!

What are the benefits of Barre?

There are SO many. Barre improves strength, muscle tone, balance, flexibility, musicality and encourages good posture.
Not only does the physical body benefit from Barre but this type of movement does wonders for the mind. After each class you will have released many endorphins, leaving you feeling happier, healthier and like you can take on ANYTHING!

What's the difference between Barre and Floor Barre?

Floor Barre gives the same feel as my signature Barre class without the physical barre element itself. 
Great for those that don't have a barre or barre-like alternative in the home.

What equipment do I need for class?

- A barre or barre-alternative. A chair, kitchen counter, radiator etc will do. Just something sturdy and roughly waist height.
- Light hand weights of around 1kg-2kg however other alternatives such as water bottles & food tins can be used.
- Looped resistance band or a pair of tights make a good alternative!
- Pilates ball or rolled up shower towel.

What should I wear?

Anything you want! Activewear or PJs, I wont judge! However I do recommend you have either bare feet or grippy socks on foot.

I'm pregnant, can I attend class?

Barre is safe to do throughout pregnancy however precautions do need to be taken. I wouldn't recommend purchasing my bundles whilst pregnant as I do not teach pregnancy specific modifications in these. Best to do live/in real life classes or private barre so you can get the best and safest experience for yourself and your baby and always check with your doctor before attending any class at all. 

Are the classes suitable for beginngers?

Yes! Classes are suitable for all levels. Throughout class I will call out modifications to those that need to take it down a notch and advancements to those that want to push it!

Do I need to sign a waiver?

BY SIGNING UP ANF PAYING FOR THE ONLINE LIVE FITNESS CLASSES, PROVIDED BY ‘BODY BY BATES’, YOU HEREBY AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:
I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE LIVE STREAMING AND OR/ON-DEMAND VIDEO VIEWING OF FITNESS CLASSES, INCLUDING FLOOR BARRE, BARRE AND STRETCH, OFFERED BY BODY BY BATES, DURING WHICH I RECEIVE INSTRUCTION VIA LIVE STREAMING THROUGH THE APP, ZOOM. 
I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE MY INTERNET CONNECTION IS WORKING BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE LIVE ONLINE CLASS PROVIDED BY BODY BY BATES. 
I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CONSULT WITH MY DOCTOR PIROR TO ANY ONLINE CLASSES REGARDING ANY HEALTH CONDITIONS AND EXISTING OR PRE- EXISTING INJURIES. I REPRESENT AND WARRANT THAT I AM PHYSICALLY FIT AND I HAVE NO MEDICAL CONDITION THAT WOULD PREVENT MY FULL PARTICIPATION IN THE ONLINE CLASSES. 
IN CONSIDERATION OF BEING PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY ONLINE FITNESS CLASSES, HELD BY BODY BY BATES, I AGREE TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY RISKS, INJURIES, DAMAGES, UNKNOWN OR KNOWN, WHICH I MIGHT INCUR AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE ONLINE CLASSES. I KNOWINGLY, VOLUNTARILY AND EXPRESSLY WAIVE ANY CLAIM I MAY SUSTAIN AS A RESULT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE LIVE ONLINE CLASSES. 
I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN FOR ANY ONLINE CLASSES PROVIDED THROUGH BODY BY BATES.
